Egna Le Egna Youth Health and Development Organization has more than 170 registered volunteers that follow a clear yearly plan to implement different community services. The organization uses volunteers to mobilize resources for low-income and vulnerable school kids, assist with elderly support, conduct peace dialogues, blood donation, home construction for low-income families, HIV education, tree plantation, street cleaning, and so on. Egna Le Egna’s voluntary activities have benefited tens of thousands of people.

Shashamane
Street Cleaning
Volunteers participated in cleaning selected areas of the town. While the youth volunteers cleaned, other members of the community joined the cleaning campaign.

Clothes Collection
- Volunteers collect clothes from households and give them to low-income people living in the area.

Peace Dialogue
Peace dialogues through the Peace Promoters linkage session, and mass education through peace-building workshops are conducted in schools and the community. The peace dialogues intend to transmit messages about the use of media for social cohesion and the role of youth in identifying misinformation and disinformation. The events have drama, music, and Q&A sessions with small gift awards provided for participants who are involved in the Q&A sessions.

Blood Donation
The organization’s volunteers have actively participated in donating blood for the Red Cross Society and mobilized the community to donate blood. Blood collection takes place regularly every three months.

Kids School Supplies and Uniforms Collection
Egna Le Egna has mobilized resources and provided exercise books, school bags, school supplies, and uniforms for school children, particularly low-income children. Pens and pencils have been mobilized and distributed under the motto of “One Pen to One Student.”

House Renovation and Construction
Volunteers have participated in the construction and painting of houses of low-income families, single mothers, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
